Get a Job/Making money
November 30th 2009 14:46
I've written a lot of articles for stay-at-home moms who were interested in returning to the workforce when their kids entered school. Most were written before our economy tanked.
Lately, a lot of moms have been talking about having to return to work. Of course, now the market is worse than ever, and many of these moms have resumes that are a bit ...dated. Plus, for moms who still have young kids at home, opportunities are even more limited. Jobs are paying less, meaning daycare is going to take a big chunk of the check.
Anyway, I've been reviewing these articles and started researching some of the recent stats. I also contacted recruiters and career specialists, particularly ones that specialize in moms reentering the workforce.
Rather than bore everybody with non-parenting stuff, I'm putting some of this info on other sites.
If you're looking for career info/part-time updates/work-at-home tips and warnings/or you've been thinking about starting a small business here are some links worth looking into. I will add new links from time to time -- sign up on the RSS feed if you want updates on this).
Here are some of the current links with some useful career stuff:

A great blog for anyone that wants to learn the real ups and downs of starting your own business. Creating your dream job covers marketing tips, includes tons of excellent links, plus it puts you in touch with moms (and others) who successfully started a dream career. The tips are easy and realistic. Plus there's a lot of information on how to accomplish this without spending a lot of money (free training opportunties/free marketing ideas, etc.)
