Peace and Quiet
My mom agreed to take the children for the week which couldn't have come at a better time. I finished my college finals on Thursday and the kids left on Friday.
sigh
Just the wife and I. What to do?
Whatever the hell we want to, that's what. We have had an absolute blast. We haven't been without our children for about a year now and boy have we needed it. No homework, no work, no kids. Just me, the computer, the wife, and the time to spare for whatever. So what have we done since Friday?
Well, we both stayed up all of Friday night. We were laughing, giggling, cuddling, and making love. We haven't been able to do that with any real enthusiasm in some time.
Then this morning (Saturday), we slept in until 10am and decided to go fishing. We were fishing for about 4 hours and she kicked my ass. My pride should've been hurt by the amount of fish she was catching, but it wasn't because we were both so happy to have some alone time. It feels wonderful to finally get some quality time with my wife.
My wife is the absolute love of my life. We have been together for almost 11 years now; it will be 11 years in June. We've been married for going on 6 years, which has been a bumpy road, but like having children, it's all worth it in the end.
There is nothing more important than being able to appreciate the little things in life. It's only been one day and one night of peace and quiet for us, but it is the much needed break that we have been looking for. When things get tough, I always know that a break is soon to come. Even when it feels like it won't come, it always does.
